Department of Food Processing Technology was established in the year 2014 offering UGC sponsored three-year Bachelor of Vocational Studies (B. Voc) degree programme in Food Processing Technology under National Skill Qualification Frame work (NSQF). The unique nature of the programme is the multiple exit provision-with Diploma in first year, Advanced Diploma in second year and B. Voc Degree in third year.
The curriculum for the programme has been well designed with technical inputs from industrial experts, focusing more on practical so as to impart technical skills that meets the requirements of the industry which are necessary to survive in Food Processing sector. The programme imparts sound scientific knowledge, technical proficiency, entrepreneurial skills, industrial exposure and training in various food processing sectors like cereal, pulse and oil Training Processing, fruit and vegetable processing, dairy processing, poultry, meat and seafood processing and plantation crop processing. The skill component of the course is assessed by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), New Delhi through Food Industry Capacity and Skill Initiative (FICSI), New Delhi.

The College has a well-established State of the Art Food Processing Centre and Incubation Facility to impart technical knowledge on par with industrial standards. The department has well established Food Production laboratory, Quality Control laboratory, Food Microbiology laboratory and Computer laboratory for hands-on learning.
The faculty members of the department are UGC NET qualified and are specialized in various disciplines like new product development, grain and millet processing, nutrition, food engineering and quality analysis.
